Iraq Media Sustainability Index (MSI)

PDFIraq MSI - English, PDF Download, 2.8 MB

PDFIraq MSI - Arabic , PDF Download, 925 KB

The second annual Media Sustainability Index (MSI) for Iraq has been implemented by IREX Europe with the support of UNESCO. More than 50 Iraqi journalists, editors, media managers and civil society activists took part in two regional panels in the northern and southern sectors of the country and one national panel, contributing their insights and analysis to provide this comprehensive review of the media environment. The MSI looks at the enabling environment for media, free speech protections, access to public information, the professionalism of journalists, the plurality and independence of the media market, the quality of management, and the strength of supporting institutions. The use of a standardized methodology allows for tracking of results over time. The Iraq MSI is available in English and Arabic.
