Aggregates Industry Atlas of the United States CD-ROM Ver. 2
This CD-ROM was developed under a cooperative research and development agreement between the USGS and the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) and includes 2,317 crushed stone operations and 2,889 sand and gravel operations. There are three databases on the CD, crushed stone, sand and gravel, and aggregates, that can be searched using the powerful LandView VI geographic information system (GIS) software included on the CD-ROM. Search results can be shown three ways, one record at a time, in tabular form for a group of records, or on maps produced by the LandView VI software. An operation shown on the map can be easily identified by company name and operation name by simply pointing to its location. Addresses, phone numbers, and products (for some companies) are also provided. Aerial views for several quarries are also included on the CD as examples. A link to the TerraServer USA server that allows the user to search and display aerial views of most operations included in the databases is also included. Maps and search results can be printed or exported to other software for use in reports and presentations. The Aggregates Industry Atlas of the U.S. CD-ROM Ver. 2 can be ordered from the NSSGA Online Store , or by calling (703) 525-8788.
