The Department of the Interior is a Federal Co-lead in the Gulf of Mexico Alliance. The USGS participates as a DOI Bureau in the Gulf of Mexico Alliance. Jess Weaver, the SE Regional Executive, with Margaret Davidson of NOAA and Bryon Griffin of EPA, is coordinating Federal activities with the Alliance.

Scientists from USGS Gulf Coast Science Centers (National Wetlands Research Center, Florida Integrated Science Center, and the Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama Water Science Centers) are contributing expertise to the Priority Issue Teams including Nutrient Reduction, Water Quality, Education, Habitat Characterization and Restoration Teams.
