Task 1: Northern Gulf of Mexico (NGOM) Project and Information Management
Task Leader: John Brock - USGS Florida Integrated Science Center, St. Petersburg
Task 1 Goals:
Task 1 provides scientific and programmatic leadership to the project. It includes core administrative capabilities, data management support for project scientists, and internal and external project communications. Given the scale and complexity of the NGOM Change and Hazard Project, a need exists for scientific leadership to explore and evaluate partnership opportunities, to develop a comprehensive project plan, to update the plan as appropriate, and transition results to appropriate stake holders.
This task interfaces with the NGOM Project Scientific Advisory and Region Advisory Committees and conducts project planning workshops and annual project review meetings.
Task 1 Objectives:
The goal of this task is to provide scientific guidance, administrative services, and information management to the project.
The objectives for Task 1 are to:
- Provide scientific leadership and management to the project, inclusive of conducting planning workshops, planning for staffing and associated recruitment of project personnel, and project budgeting and procurement.
- Provide data, information, and publication management support to the project. This will involve establishing a catalog of relevant data, development and maintenance of a reference database, and tracking and expediting the review and approval of project publications.
- Provide support for communications, both within the project, and between the project and external stakeholders and collaborating scientists. Activities in support of this objective include the creation and maintenance of a project website, monthly internal project meetings, and an annual project review meeting with of external partners, stakeholders, and advisors.
