Sonoran Desert Research Station

The Sonoran Desert Research Station is one component of the Southwest Biological Research Center, which conducts research throughout Arizona, Utah, and the southwestern United States. The team of biologists, zoologists, ecologists, and other scientists and specialists contribute to the research on issues as protection and restoration of threatened native amphibians and reptiles, protection of neotropical migratory birds, avian disease threats to native birds, vegetation ecology, and restoration ecology studies on impacted arid lands. In general, research topics pursued by the Biological Resources discipline in the Southwest involve water use and the effects of livestock grazing, wildland fires, invasive species, environmental contaminants, declining populations of native species and urban development on the Southwest region.
