Reed to Head GSA's National Capital RegionGSA # 10361 June 14, 2007
Washington, DC – The U.S. General Services Administration today announced Tony Reed will serve as the Regional Administrator of the Agency’s National Capital Region effective June 11, 2007. “Tony is an energetic, resourceful leader who brings extensive practical experience to his new position as head of GSA National Capital Region,” said Administrator Lurita Doan. “I am glad to have him as part of GSA’s leadership team.” As the head of the National Capital Region, Mr. Reed oversees a real estate portfolio of 93 million square feet—an inventory of over 880 government–owned and leased facilities that house nearly 300,000 federal workers. GSA’s National Capital Region serves federal agency clients throughout the Washington, DC metro area including Maryland (Montgomery and Prince George's counties) and Virginia (the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church and Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties). “I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve the administration, Administrator Doan and the wonderful employees at GSA,” said Mr. Reed. “I look forward to being a part of this great organization.” Prior to joining GSA, Mr. Reed served as the Assistant Secretary for the Maryland Department of General Services where he was responsible for the goods and services for the state, county and municipal government including construction, architectural and engineering services. Mr. Reed received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1986 and a master of public administration degree from New York University in 1991. ### Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government.
