Bennett taps Fox as Head of FSS Acquisitions OfficeGSA # 9959 July 12, 2002
"Neal is recognized throughout the acquisition community as a leader in the field of business planning and acquisition," said Ms. Bennett. "His skills and knowledge, coupled with more than 20 years of acquisition experience, make him an ideal choice to help FSS move toward its vision for being the premier provider of commercial goods and services to the federal government." As the Assistant Commissioner for Commercial Acquisition, Mr. Fox will work collaboratively with Ms. Bennett and other service leadership to provide guidance and to carry out a variety of important assignments in connection with FSS management and activities. He will be responsible for and will develop, manage, and execute programs that provide millions of commercial services and products exceeding $16 billion annually to Federal customers worldwide. A retired Air Force Colonel, Mr. Fox most recently served at Gunter Air Force Base in Alabama as the Director of Information Technology. In that position, he was responsible for providing commercial information technology products and services to Air Force customers worldwide. As a result of his innovative leadership, Mr. Fox received the Business Solutions in the Public Interest Award in 2001 from the Council on Excellence in Government. Mr. Fox holds an undergraduate degree in economics from Grove City College and a master's degree in business administration from University of Wyoming. One of three service branches within the agency, FSS plays a key role in the acquisition of services and supplies, including computer and telecommunications equipment, for the federal government. GSA is a centralized federal procurement and property management agency created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public. It acquires, on behalf of federal agencies, office space, equipment, telecommunications, information technology, supplies and services. GSA, comprised of 14,000 associates, provides services and solutions for the office operations of over 1 million federal workers located in 8,300 government -owned and leased buildings in 1,600 U.S. communities.
