Region 5 RCRA Compliance Assistance
Compliance Assistance Information Sources:
- On March 4, 2005, U.S. EPA published the final Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest regulations. The standardized manifest form streamlines the process, helps interstate commerce, and reduces regulatory paperwork. A streamlined process will save waste handlers and regulators time and money while guaranteeing the continued, safe management of hazardous waste. The effective date of this final rule is September 5, 2005. The compliance date for this rule is September 5, 2006. On September 5, 2006, the new manifest form must be used. The new manifest forms can only be obtained from registered locations that have been approved by the U.S. EPA.
These regulations affect all hazardous waste handlers and are found in 40 CFR Parts 262-265 and Part 271. The final rule is designed to provide regulatory relief to more than 139,000 businesses that perform RCRA hazardous waste manifest-related activities. To obtain a copy of the final March 4, 2005, FEDERAL REGISTER “Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest Regulations,” please go to U.S. EPA’s web site at: http://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-WASTE/2005/March/Day-04/f1966.htm
