Region 5 Regional Database Information

In order to effectively administer the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) program, EPA has developed the Resource Conservation and Recovery Information System (RCRAInfo) data base.

The Region 5 states are Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. You may select any of the available reports for one or more of the Region 5 states. These reports are updated quarterly and sorted in alphabetical order by facility name.

REGION 5 RCRAInfo REPORT DESCRIPTIONS SINGLE LINE HANDLER REPORT

The list of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) handlers who notified U.S. EPA Region 5 of hazardous waste activity and received an assigned U.S. EPA Federal identification number. This list can include: treatment, storage or disposal (TSD) facilities, large quantity generators (LQGs), small quantity generators (SQGs), conditionally exempt small quantity generators (CESQGs), and transporters.

COMPREHENSIVE PERMITTING REPORT

This report lists handlers with Permitting/Closure/Post Closure activites, including events which reflect specific activities encountered in the process of obtaining a permit, closure or post-closure permit.

The Process Unit information which reflect the physical structure used to treat, store or dispose hazardous waste. Process Unit Groups are the units regulated under the same permit.

The legal and operating status codes are used to describe the legal status of the process unit group, as defined by RCRA regulations and/or applicable policy and to describe the operating status of the process unit group and the presence of RCRA-regulated hazardous waste in the unit.

DETAILED CORRECTIVE ACTION REPORT

The report list handlers with Nationally defined RCRA corrective action activities such as; Authority, the term used for the documentation and legal force driving the corrective action process (e.g., operating permit, consent order). Area, a geographical defined area within a particular facility (e.g., ground water plume, surface impoundment). and Event, a specific acitivity encountered to facilitate cleanup of contamination at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.

Enforcement and Compliance History Online (ECHO)

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality's Hazardous Waste Data for Enforcement and Compliance has not been updated since May 5, 2006. For additional information, please see the Data Alerts and Data Problems links located on the front page of the ECHO website.
