“Quality Vehicular Component Remanufacturing”

List by map

Give us an unservicable, but rebuildable core and here is what we can do for you:

  • In its simplest terms, remanufacturing is the process of returning a used, worn out engine to as close to new as possible. The engine is completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected, remachined, reassembled and tested to insure functional quality.
  • The integrity of the basic “core” parts are closely inspected and checked against the original equipment manufacturer's specifications. They are remachined to bring them back to specification to return to the remanufactured core to original equipment tolerances.
  • Wearable parts such as bearing, rings, pistons and gaskets are automatically replaced. The completed engine is tested for compliance to OEM standards.
  • UNICOR has been remanufacturing parts for the federal government since the mid-eighties and has grown into the type of highly technical, sophisticated facility that exists in Estill, South Carolina.

The Federal Prison Industries (FPI) Estill facility can remanufacture a variety of vehicular tactical and non-tactical components including generators, starters, alternators, regulators, and transmissions to like-new condition at substantial savings. Most of the items that we remanufacture have been classified as “non-repairable” and are headed for a Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO) where they are sold as scrap. By reclaiming and remanufacturing these parts, we are able to provide quality vehicular components to our customers at substantial savings.

This facility fully remanufactures both commercial and tactical forklifts, all sizes to OEM standards.

After receiving a failed component (core), the FPI Estill facility will disassemble the component to determine the replacement parts needed and then develop work and testing procedures to ensure that the rebuilt component meets or exceeds the original manufacturer's (OEM) specifications. Once the prototyping process is complete, the component is available to all of our customers.

This facility fully remanufactures both commercial and tactical forklifts, all sizes to OEM standards or customer requirements.
