NCARL News and Events:

NCARL Building Dedication:  On April 20, 2006, NCARL will celebrate its recent expansion/remodel with a building dedication ceremony at 9:30 a.m.  Registration begins at 9:00.  There will be light refreshments and guided tours following the ceremony.  Later in the day, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., the Lab will host an open house for members of the community who are not able to attend the morning activities.

ARS Research Highlighted at Soil and Water Conservation Farm Field Day: On June 20, 2006, the annual field day of the Eastern South Dakota Soil and Water Conservation Research Farm at Brookings SD will be held. Scientists from the ARS-North Central Agricultural Research Laboratory, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and South Dakota State University perform collaborative research and technology transfer at the research farm. ARS presentations will be given by NCARL scientists (entomologist, soil microbiologist, agronomist, plant breeder, and plant physiologist).  These research presentations provide information to producers in the northern Great Plains about evolving agriculture practices, and provide answers to soil and water resource conservation questions. The Research Farm, which is owned by 15 soil and water conservation districts in eastern South Dakota, is an outstanding example of cooperation between federal, state, and local organizations to promote important agricultural research and sponsor technology transfer activities.
