Centrally-Managed Biodiversity Programs

The links below provide descriptions of biodiversity programs that are managed by USAID’s Biodiversity Team, based in the Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade (EGAT) Bureau in Washington, D.C. Information on the various biodiversity programs managed by USAID Missions and Regional Programs can be found on their respective web sites. The Global Conservation Program

The Global Conservation Program (GCP) is a partnership between USAID and six leading U.S.-based nongovernmental organizations that aims to conserve globally significant areas of biodiversity. The partners are:

In addition to implementing site-based activities, USAID supports the six GCP partners to collaborate on topics of shared interest. This inter-institutional learning initiative aims to generate new conservation approaches, and to identify and share effective conservation practices.

Cross-Sectoral Partnerships

USAID also supports innovative cross-sectoral approaches to biodiversity conservation. These activities are intended to facilitate and catalyze systemic change in how biodiversity conservation is approached within the broader conservation and development communities. The partnerships include:

  • Business and Biodiversity Offsets Program
  • Population, Equity, AIDS, and Coastal Ecosystems (PEACE) Project
  • Long-line Fishing
  • Flora and Fauna International
