Empowering Communities to fight against HIV/AIDS

Helping children - Isbindi Projects in South Africa

Isibindi is a Zulu word meaning courage, and is the name of over 50 projects in South Africa, which help children affected by HIV/AIDS. People from the community are trained as child care workers to offer care and support to the children and their families who need help. Safeparks are also set up which are places the children can go and behave as children. Global Health TV speaks to Heidi Schmidt and Monika Vega, who co-ordinate 3 of the projects.
