On May 1, 2007 World Asthma Day, EPA cosponsored an expert panel discussion on 'Asthma Prevalence and Management' with the World Health Organization and Tufts Medical School. The event took place at the State House in Boston, Massachusetts. A panel of distinguished speakers including Elizabeth Cotsworth (Director, EPA ORIA), Andrey Pirogov (Assistant Secretary General (WHO)), Jeffrey Sanchez (Massachusetts House of Representatives) and William Yee (Chief of Pediatric Pulmonary and Allergy Center, Tufts New England Medical Center), presented. Each of the speakers provided their own perspective on this complex and multifactorial disease, which underscored the fact that the path to effective asthma management requires a multidisciplinary approach.
