Research Project: IRRIGATION, TILLAGE, AND WEED MANAGEMENT TO MAINTAIN AGRICULTURE PROFITABILITY WITH LIMITED WATER

Location: Water Management Research

Project Number: 5402-13220-003-03
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 01, 2006
End Date: Aug 31, 2011

Objective:
Develop integrated water, weed and tillage management techniques that efficiently use limited irrigation water supplies.

Approach:
Small and large plot field trials will be used to determine the yield and weed response to limited irrigation water applications under conventional and minimal tillage. Economic analysis of the results will be used to develop decision support systems for limited irrigation in the Great Plains. Benefits and methods of site-specific weed management will be evaluated.
