Research Project: USDA U.S. AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY GREENHOUSE GAS INVENTORY

Location: Soil Plant Nutrient Research (SPNR)

Project Number: 5402-11000-007-02
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 21, 2004
End Date: Sep 20, 2009

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to provide programmer and computer time to assist ARS in the production of an annual U.S. Agriculture and Forestry Greenhouse Gas Inventory and development of an ARS GraceNet data base.

Approach:
Production of a U.S. Agriculture and Forestry Greenhouse Gas Inventory each year requires the incorporation of new methodologies by which the inventory is conducted. Part of these new techniques will include the latest development in computer simulation models. Incorporation of these techniques into the inventory system will require programming personnel and computer systems that the Soil-Plant-Nutrient Research Unit does not have. ARS will interact with CSU to incorporate programming expertise and computer systems into the inventory analyses. The same programming personnel and computer systems will be used to assist ARS in the development of protocol by which the ARS GraceNet data base will be developed.
