MODIS temperature products are key inputs to many of the high level MODIS products and provide data for global temperature mapping and change observation.

Product Description
The level-3 MODIS global Land Surface Temperature (LST) and Emissivity daily data are composed from the daily MOD11B1 product and stored in a 0.05-degree (5600-meter) geographic Climate Modeling Grid (CMG).

MOD11C1 is comprised of daytime and nighttime LSTs, quality assessment, observation times, view angles, and emissivities retrieved in Bands 20, 22-23, 29, and 31-32.

Version-5 MODIS/Terra Land Surface Temperature/Emissivity products are validated indirectly through the daily 6-km product, MOD11B1, to Stage 1, meaning that accuracy has been estimated using a small number of independent measurements obtained from selected locations and time periods and ground-truth/field program efforts. Although there may be later improved versions, these data are ready for use in scientific publications.
