How To Use This Web Toolkit

The Environmental Protection Agency has developed a “toolkit” designed to familiarize and educate librarians about using EPA's Web site. Contained in this Web area, and also available as a hardcopy booklet, the toolkit reflects the basic structure of the EPA home page (www.epa.gov), with emphasis on aspects of the EPA Web domain believed to be particularly relevant to librarians.

With the exception of Browse EPA Topics and Search, the order of topics in this Web area follows the ordering of items in the blue left sidebar on the EPA Home Page. The first topic, Browse EPA Topics, has been developed by EPA librarians and is considered one of the most valuable research tools on the EPA Web Site. For that reason, it precedes the other sections. Also of particular importance, the Search box is located on top of nearly every EPA page and does not appear in the left sidebar.

In addition to the information described above, you will find a list of the Web pages discussed; followed by a directory with contact information for EPA National Library Network services across the country.  We hope the items outlined in this Web area will enable librarians to serve their clients better in addressing questions regarding the environment.
