Figure 10. The Moreno Formation crops out along the western edge of the San Joaquin Valley and is found in the subsurface to the east. Presser and others (1990) identified the Moreno as a highly seleniferous unit; some of their samples were as high as 23 PPM. Keller, Evans, and Presser (unpublished data, 1999) found higher contents of selenium in addition to a significantly positive correlation with organic carbon content.
