Table Retrieval System (TRS)

[an error occurred while processing this directive] TRS is a menu-driven package to easily select, retrieve, display and print statistical tables. It is intended as a tool for electronic data dissemination. TRS allows data users with no previous computer experience to examine tables and accompanying text which are storedin a computer readable format.

TRS is a data dissemination component of the Integrated Microcomputer Processing System (IMPS), a series of softwarepackages for entry, editing, tabulation, estimation, analysis, and dissemination of census and survey data. IMPS was developed by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. Distribution of IMPS is funded jointly by the Bureau of the Census and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Capabilities

Processing Methodology

For each application, TRS allows you to create up to 100 table sets. You can store approximately 1000 tables in each table set. Each table set has an index file associated with it. The index file, which you create with the TRS setup module, contains information onthe geographic names, subjects, table titles, and location of eachstored table.

All user created files and .BAT files which store and retrieve tables are in ASCII format.

Performance

The speed of TRS depends on the number of tables being retrieved (not the number stored) and the type of microcomputer being used. On an 80386 microcomputer running at 20 MHz, TRS retrieves one table every two seconds.
