Location: Mid South Area (MSA)

Project Number: 6401-21220-001-02
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 08, 2004
End Date: Mar 31, 2009

Objective:
Develop best crop management practices to protect soil and water quality in site-specific soybean production regions of the Mississippi River and Tennessee River watersheds.

Approach:
Use laboratory and field techniques to measure soil erosion and water quality in cropping systems experiments conducted by ARS scientists. Provide expertise in use of GPS to measure variation in soil fertility, yield, pests, and disease in soybean fields. Provide expertise in developing weed management systems and production of rotational crops for soybean to optimize best crop management practices for conservation of soil and water quality in the Mississippi and Tennessee River watersheds.
