Objective:
To obtain germplasm of wild Helianthus species from the southwestern U.S. for inclusion in the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System.
Approach:
Populations of wild Helianthus species will be located in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arizona. Seeds from these populations will be collected and herbarium specimens will be made. The collections will be fully documented with complete passport data. The germplasm will be deposited in the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System. A detailed trip report, including information on all samples obtained, will be provided to ARS.
