Beginning on the International Day of Eliminating Violence Against Women, encompassing World AIDS Day on December 1, and ending on International Human Rights Day, 16 Days of Activism raises awareness about the violence that women and girls face in our global communities as a result of their unequal status in society and the intersection of violence and public health and development obstacles.

Held biennially, ICASA is organized and owned by the Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA). The 14th ICASA will be held in Abuja Nigeria.

As World AIDS Day is observed on December 1, USAID looks back on a year of increasing efforts to fight the growing pandemic, such as a $500 million contract to distribute anti-AIDS drugs and prolong millions of lives.

The 2005 International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP), held in Kobe, Japan, sought to increase the understanding of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and related issues in the region and to share lessons learned that are applicable to future efforts.

The conference, organized by the Indiana University School of Medicine, brought together some of the world's foremost authorities on care and treatment of patients with HIV/AIDS.
