Research Project: SUGARCANE BREEDING, VARIETAL DEVELOPMENT, AND DISEASE DIAGNOSIS (CHINA) Project Number: 6410-21000-014-11

End Date: Sep 30, 2009

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to improve the possibilities of obtaining new sugarcane varieties and to develop new production and disease diagnostic techniques through the exchange and evaluation of germplasm and molecular and agronomic technologies with the ultimate goal of production sustainability.

Approach:
ARS and the Cooperator will exchange seed, wild and experimental lines, and new varieties (Material) for use in their respective breeding programs and for testing and evaluation for specific traits of interest or as commercial cultivars as well as new molecular and production technologies to enhance yield or reduce input costs.
