Research Project:
BIOLOGICAL IMPACTS OF CROP PRODUCTION SYSTEMS IN TRANSITION FROM THE USE OF METHYL BROMIDE
Location: Subtropical Plant Pathology Research
Project Number: 6618-22000-036-02
Project Type:
Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: May 31, 2003
End Date: May 31, 2008
Objective:
Assess the biological impacts of crop production systems in transition away from the use of methyl bromide.
Approach:
Six diverse land management programs were established on 14.4 acres of land that had been in long-term tomation production using methyl bromide fumigation. Data collection begins in Fall 2003 on crop growth parameters, micro biology weed control, and soil using molecular, biochemical and classical methods to characterize functional and taxonomic diversity.
