Research Project: FOOD SAFETY PATHOGEN REDUCTION Project Number: 0500-00058-001-00

Objective:
This is an umbrella project to hold food safety funds. FY1999 Program increase for food safety. Modified Start and Termination dates from 12/01/1998 through 11/30/2003 to 12/01/2003 through 11/30/2008. To reduce the public health risk due to Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli and other food pathogens. Generate data on Listeria and Escherichia coli 0157:H7 and other food pathogens for use by regulatory/action agencies and industry.

Approach:
These funds will be used for extramural research with (1) the Institute for Technology Development, Stennis Space Center, (2) Hydrodyne Technology Research.
