Objective:
Provide management option for Montana growers impacted by a scab epidemic and preemptively protect Montana¿s reputation for premium spring wheat.

Approach:
Establish a Fusarium head scab nursery and evaluate Fusarium head scab resistance of Montana¿s spring wheat varieties along with scab resistant materials released by other states. Incorporate the Sumai3 scab resistance genes into wheat lines and breeding stock adapted to Montana¿s growing conditions.
