Research Project: SPRING WHEAT BREEDING FOR SCAB RESISTANCE IN SOUTH DAKOTA Project Number: 0500-00053-002-10
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: May 01, 2004
End Date: Apr 30, 2009

Objective:
Breed spring wheat for resistance to scab in South Carolina.

Approach:
Carry out one field and two greenhouse screenings to evaluate approximately 100 F(2) populations for scab resistance. Simultaneously introgress several resistant germplasm sources from the small grains pathology group at South Dakota State University into an agronomically acceptable background. Identify lines with increased scab resistance and desirable agronomic characteristics from the complex population formed.
