Research Project:
CANDIDATE GENES FOR FRUIT SOFTENING IN PRUNUS
Location: Kearneysville, West Virginia
Project Number: 1931-21000-017-12
Project Type:
Reimbursable
Start Date: Jun 15, 2008
End Date: Jan 14, 2010
Objective:
Improve fruit quality of tree fruits.
Approach:
Isolate and sequence the endopolygalacturonase locus in peach. The sequence will be used to determine the number of genes at that loci and to create molecular markers for each gene. These markers will be used to examine the structure of that loci in peach cultivars with different softening characteristics, as well as, plum cultivars.
