Research Project: FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS OF SYMBIOTIC NITROGEN FIXATION AND ROOT ADAPTATION TO PHOSPHORUS DEFICIENCY IN PHASEOLUS VULGARIS

Location: Plant Science Research

Project Number: 3640-21000-024-02
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Oct 01, 2005
End Date: Sep 30, 2008

Objective:
Evaluate global gene expression in bean root nodules and roots.

Approach:
Use RNAi to assess the functional role of selected genes having enhanced expression in either root nodules or P-deficiency stressed roots. Scientists from the Center for Genomic Sciences (CGS), Cuernavaca, Universidad Autonoma de Mexico, will perform macroarray transcriptome analysis and RNAi functional knockout experiments.
