Health Policy and Sector Reform
USAID works in the field of
health policy and sector reform to help developing countries
invest scarce resources into their most serious health
problems while continuing to offer their populations
affordable, high quality health care. USAID helps countries
achieve greater efficiency, effectiveness, and improved
outcomes for their existing reproductive health care
programs, improve efficiency in the allocation of resources,
provide individuals with greater access to services,
and achieve consumer satisfaction. This work is accomplished
in several ways:
- Reducing shortages and
costs of drugs
- Improving the quality of
health care
- Promoting greater understanding
of how the private sector can achieve health objectives
- Improving the sustainability
of health care
