Research Project: FATE OF AGROCHEMICALS IN POT-IN-POT NURSERY CULTURE

Location: Application Technology Research Unit

Project Number: 3607-21620-006-12
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 29, 2005
End Date: Jun 30, 2010

Objective:
To study the impact of pot-in-pot culture on nursery production and water management.

Approach:
Studies will be designed that allow for collection of leachate to track fertilizer and soilless media components fate during pot-in-pot production. Four experimental plots have been established. Soilless media, leachate and tissue samples will be collected weekly for fertilizer and pesticide tracking. Water and fertilizer loss through drainage from the pot-in-pot, and changes in container medium moisture and temperature due to irrigation, rainfall and weather conditions will be recorded.
