Research Project: NUTRIENT REQUIREMENTS OF FISH AND SHRIMP Project Number: 0208-32000-001-12
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Sep 28, 2005
End Date: Mar 31, 2009

Objective:
Evaluate previously determined scientific literature on the nutrient requirements of fish and shrimp with scientific literature gathered over the last decade.

Approach:
A committee of approximately 10 members (including international representation) will be appointed to undertake the analysis of fish and shrimp nutrition. Expertise represented will be energy nutrition, protein and amino acid nutrition, vitamin and mineral nutrition, nutrient bioavailability, feed composition and feed additives (including toxicology and pharmacology), diet formulation, practical feeding, nutrient excretion and aquatic ecology, and computer modeling. During the course of four meetings, the members of the committee will conduct a comprehensive review of the scientific literature and relevant sources of data on fish and shrimp nutrient requirements and feeding considerations, with a particular focus on new information acquired during the past decade.
