Teaching the Anza Trail: Five-day Curriculum for Grades 3-4 The curriculum has five 1-hour lesson plans that can be completed consecutively or separately. Each student role plays as one of the 1776 Anza Expedition members and experiences the journey through a variety of activities and reflections.

Did You Know?
Franciscan Father Pedro Font wrote a journal during his 1775-6 trip on the Anza Trail. Suffering culture shock, his journals are a study in personal bigotry. However, by the time Font reached California he had grown more tolerant and wrote less insulting things about the tribes he met along the way.
