Research Project: DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PREHARVEST FUNGICIDE APPLICATIONS ON POSTHARVEST DISEASE DEVELOPMENT AND FRUIT QUALITY

Objective:
To establish: an integrated system of preharvest and postharvest practices that enable specialty tropical fruit growers to manage diseases, improve fruit quality, and extend shelf-life

Approach:
1)Nine to ten year old commercially popular rambutan trees will be selected at Paukaa. 2)Twelve selected trees in the Paukaa site will be pruned and managed as agreed upon by the research team and the owner of the trees. a. Current farm practice 3)Time of fungicide application: a. Abound: 10.8 oz/ac, spray trees until they are uniformly wet at beginning and mid point of crop cycle. b. Serenade: 4 pts/ac, spray trees until they are uniformly wet, 7 to 21 day cycle. Documents NFCA with La Pinta Farms. Formerly 5320-21000-009-08N (09/2008).
