Research Project: GENETIC MECHANISMS TO CONTROL HEAD SCAB Project Number: 0500-00053-001-87
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Jun 16, 2003
End Date: Jun 15, 2008

Objective:
Develop efficient control measures to minimize scab outbreaks and spread in the USA and other affected countries.

Approach:
Test hypothesis by cloning and then disrupting the F. graminearum ppo genes which encode dioxygenases required for oxylipin production. Examine ppo strains of F. graminearum for asexual and sexual spore production, pathogenicity and mycotoxin biosynthesis.
