Research Project: EVALUATING GPFARM USAGE BY MEMBERS OF THE COLORADO ASSOCIATION OF WHEAT GROWERS

Location: Agricultural Systems Research Unit

Project Number: 5402-61660-006-02
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 12, 2004
End Date: Jan 11, 2009

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative extension and research project is to extend the decision support software package, GPFARM, to the members of the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers (CAWG) and provide data to the Great Plains Systems Research Unit (GPSRU) on model usage and user needs.

Approach:
The Great Plains Systems Research Unit (GPSRU) and the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers (CAWG), have the mutual interest of extending to agricultural producers, in this case members of CAWG, decision support software for making on-farm management decisions. The CAWG are interested in providing value-added benefits to its membership by including GPFARM in its membership packet. The GPSRU is interested in obtaining data on GPFARM usage and user needs. The GPSR U will also benefit by developing a FAQ data base and learning from a large pool of users the strengths and weaknesses for GPFARM. This information will be beneficial in the design and construction of future GPSRU decision support tools and software.
