Location: Horticulture and Breeding Research

Project Number: 6618-21000-013-12
Project Type: Memorandum of Understanding

Start Date: Sep 05, 2007
End Date: Jul 30, 2012

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to facilitate interaction between government scientists, university faculty and students. This agreement will establish a mechanism for cooperative research and education between the US Horticultural Research Laboratory (USHRL) and Florida Atlantic University (FAU) to accommodate activities related to plant pathology, entomology, genetics, molecular biology, horticulture and ecology. These research activities involving collaborative interaction are intended to encompass long-term, multi-project activities. This research will be relevant to the needs of the State of Florida and the Nation.

To support Government activities related to plant pathology, entomology, genetics, molecular biology, horticulture and ecology, USHRL and FAU will collaborate in use of facilities, equipment, services and personnel at the University campus and field laboratory in Boca Raton, Florida and Port St. Lucie, Florida and at the USHRL, Ft. Pierce, Florida. The USHRL and Florida Atlantic University will each appoint a Coordinator to assist in developing, planning and implementation cooperative research projects related to plant pathology, entomology, genetics, molecular biology, horticulture and ecology. As the parties identify specific projects or research activities to be jointly or cooperatively undertaken, the Parties will identify the scope of the project or research activity, the source(s) and the researchers or other personnel involved.
