Research Project:
A SURVEY OF ERIOPHYID MITES OCCURRING IN NURSERIES IN OREGON
Location: Horticultural Crops Research
Project Number: 5358-22000-032-10
Project Type:
Grant
Start Date: Sep 19, 2007
End Date: Sep 30, 2009
Objective:
Determine the extent of damage done by eriophyid mites in the Oregon nursery industry. Determine which plants are most often attacked by eriophyids and determine the identity of the mite species causing the damage.
Approach:
This will be a one-year field survey with the purpose of identification and description of pests found in the Oregon nursery industry. Sampling will be done using traps and physical collection in each of the major affected production units. The samples of the pest mites will be perserved and shipped to identification specialists. Samples will be mounted, and after identification a list of affected areas with pest species will be available to the industry. From this list, key pest species will be identified before further work is planned. Documants Grant with Oregon State University.
