Research Project: CEAP ASSESSMENT OF INVASIVE WEED BIOLOGICAL CONTROL

Objective:
1) Monitor Crete, Greece Leaf beetle numbers on saltcedar along Cache Creek near Rumsey, CA. 2) Report results in numerical and pictoral form to USDA. 3) Document conservation benefits such as pesticide reduction gained from biocontrol program over a five year period.

Approach:
Field monitoring will be conducted along Cache Creek in Yolo County, CA. GPS locations will be recorded from many locations each day, and linked to a pictorial record indicating insect numbers and levels of saltcedar defoliation. Data will be compiled and passed to USDA-ARS for quantification. Long-term assessment of vegetation, change focusing on the control of invasive saltcedar will be determined and reported.
