Research Project: ARS SUPPORT FOR EPA NEW RULE MAKING FOR THE 20/10 GREENHOUSE GAS STANDARDS

Objective:
Assist the EPA in the Rule making for the 20/10 Greenhouse Gas Standards by providing them with technical and cost information on the production of ethanol and biodiesel from the ARS developed process and cost models.

Approach:
The Environmental Protection Agency has been tasked with ¿Rule Making ¿ for the proposed ¿20/10 Greenhouse Gas Standard¿ and requires information on renewable fuels, specifically ethanol and biodiesel production costs and emissions. ARS has such expertise and has been requested by the EPA to provide support for this task. ARS will utilize their existing knowledge of ethanol and biodiesel production and will prepare studies of various ethanol and biodiesel production scenario¿s as described in the deliverables section.
