Research Project:
TRIPLE ACTION CHIMERA: ERADICATION OF NASAL S. AUREUS BY CELL WALL HYDROLASES
Location: Animal Biosciences and Biotechnology Laboratory
Project Number: 1265-31000-091-06
Project Type:
Reimbursable
Start Date: Sep 17, 2008
End Date: Mar 31, 2012
Objective:
To test the ability of triple fusion peptidoglycan hydrolases to eradicate S. aureus in a rodent model of nasal colonization.
Approach:
Triple fusion antimicrobials will be created and tested for three lytic activities, the effect of surface structures to effect susceptibility of S. aureus to the fusion peptidoglycan hydrolases, and finally the triple fusion proteins are tested for their ability to eradicate nasally colonized S. aureus.
