The Fourteenth Annual Theodore Roosevelt® Award Ceremony
The Theodore Roosevelt® Police Award is given each year to police officers who have overcome a major physical challenge or handicap, as Theodore Roosevelt triumphed over the illness of his youth; who remain on active duty; and who have rendered outstanding and praiseworthy service to their respective police departments, as Theodore Roosevelt did in his years as President of the Board of Police Commissioners of New York City.

CB Volunteers Repair Nature Trail Footbridge at Sagamore Hill
Eleven members of the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 21 (CBs), Detachment No. 1121, from Fort Schuyler replaced approximately 70 linear feet of the bridge deck on Saturday and Sunday August 4 and 5.
The footbridge traverses the Eel Creek salt marsh at the foot of the Sagamore Hill Nature Trail connecting to the beach area on Cold Spring Harbor. The volunteer force transported lumber and tools and set up a work area adjacent to the west end of the bridge. The workers replaced the old decking, which was badly deteriorated from the weather, and also replaced joists and supports as necessary.
At the end of the work day the Sagamore Hill Rangers invited the CBs and their family members to participate in the flag lowering and folding.
Sagamore Hill is very grateful to these men and women who have made a significant contribution to the site. Since August the CBs have worked on weekends to replace hundreds of feet of the bridge and they will continue to work while the weather remains good.
