ASTER Pricing PolicyNASA has directed the Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS) to revise the ASTER Pricing Policy for ASTER Level 1A, Level 1B, Level 2, and Level 3 (ASTER DEM) data products. Therefore, on January 25, 2006, the LP DAAC began charging $80 (US) per granule (scene) for FTP-Pull orders and Level 3 (ASTER DEM) products, with the exception of the ASTER DEM and Orthorectified (DMO) product, which is $160 (US) per granule. ASTER pricing on DVD media is $91 (US) per granule. The ASTER DEM and Orthorectified (DMO) product is $182 (US) per granule. All media orders are assessed a $5 (US) handling fee, and international orders will be subject to a $20 (US) shipping fee. The LP DAAC continues to offer ASTER Data Pool holdings at no charge. Please see the tables below for details.
1Note: All prices are subject to change. 2Shipping and Handling: Both DVD and FTP orders incur a $5 (US) handling fee. A shipping carrier and an account number are required for products shipped outside the United States (see International Orders below). 3Domestic Orders: All domestic orders require prepayment. Orders shipped domestically are sent from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS) using the most economic means possible (at no cost to the user). All orders exceeding $200 (US) are shipped using a carrier capable of parcel tracking to ensure proper delivery. Note that these carriers typically do not deliver to Post Office Boxes; therefore, it is important that your order contains a valid street address. 4Modes of Payment: For information on modes of Payment, please visit http://LPDAAC.usgs.gov/payment.asp. Figures indicated in table represent total cost for single-granule orders. 5International Orders: All international orders require prepayment. When making payment arrangements with the LP DAAC User Services, please designate one of the following carriers for your order delivery: FedEx, DHL, or UPS. Please note that these carriers do not ship to Post Office Boxes. Shipping costs are charged to the account number you provide. If you do not provide a carrier account, you will be charged a $20 (US) shipping fee and the USGS will select a carrier for shipping your product order. Customers are responsible for any additional charges incurred from insurance, customs fees, and/or shipping costs. Payment for orders shipped outside the United States may use an international money order drawn on U.S. funds, or through any of the following credit cards: American Express, Discover, Master Card, or Visa. For additional options, please see Modes of Payment at http://lpdaac.usgs.gov/payment.asp.
ASTER Pricing Policy CaveatsPricing TransitionThe new pricing policy began January 25, 2006. ASTER Data Available at No Cost
NASA's Office of Earth Science maintains the list of researchers authorized to receive ASTER data without charge and provides those names to the Land Processes DAAC at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS). IMPORTANT: Redistribution of ASTER data obtained through this NASA no cost agreement is limited by certain restrictions. Researchers and educators may only redistribute these data to other researchers and educators. These data may not be redistributed to the general public or others not fitting the criteria stated above. Users not complying with this policy will be billed for all data received at no cost and will be subject to loss of their privilege to obtain any additional ASTER data at no cost.
