Special Education Research Programs
Signed into law on December 3, 2004, The Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) authorized the establishment of The National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER), along with the transfer of responsibilities for research in special education to the new Center. The Center is located within the Department of Education's Institute for Education Services.

The OSEP-funded SigNetwork provides information about State Improvement Grants (SIGs) and State Personnel Development Grants (SPDG).
The Department of Education (ED) has established a network of 16 regional and five content Comprehensive Centers to provide assistance to benefit states and districts nationwide on key issues related to closing the achievement gap and the goals of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Within ED, OSEP and the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) have joined together to fund three of the new five content Comprehensive Centers:
