Long Island Sound Study (LISS) - Project Summary
Project Website: Long Island Sound Study (LISS) |
The "Long Island Sound Study" (LISS) tracks and reports on key measures relating to the environmental condition of Long Island Sound and its watershed, and the linkages between those measures. In 1994, the states of Connecticut and New York and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved the "Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan" (CCMP) for Long Island Sound. The Plan identifies the specific commitments and recommendations for actions to improve water quality, protect habitat and living resources, educate and involve the public, improve the long-term understanding of how to manage the Sound, monitor progress, and redirect management efforts. |
