Earth System Science Data and Services
Your source for the latest information on Earth System Science Data from the NASA DAACs. Includes News on the status and location of various datasets and Feature Stories describing applications for Earth System Science Data

Data Centers
NASA Data Centers provide Earth Science data from NASA's Earth-observing satellites, data-handling software, and user support.

Get Data
NASA's Earth Science Division has nine discipline-specific Data Centers that process, archive, document, and distribute data from NASA's Earth observing satellites and field measurement programs. All NASA Earth science data are described in the Global Change Master Directory (GCMD), and most data can be ordered via the EOS Data Gateway (EDG). In addition, each data center has its own data-delivery methods and data-analysis tools.

Data Center Tools
Many data sets from NASA's Earth Science Division Data Centers require special tools for image processing and analysis. These tools have been created by either the Data Centers or external software developers. The Data Centers also provide tools for functions such as searching and subsetting data.

User Services Offices
User Services representatives are the interface for support for the EOSDIS data products and services. User Services representatives are responsible for filling user orders, answering support inquiries, capturing user comments regarding the data products and the system, and providing referrals to other Data Centers.

Global Change Master Directory
NASA's Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) is a comprehensive source of satellite and in situ Earth science data, with broad coverage of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, oceans, solid Earth, and biosphere.

Global Land Cover Facility
The Global Land Cover Facility (GLCF) provides Earth Science data and products to help everyone to better understand global environmental systems. In particular, the GLCF develops and distributes remotely sensed satellite data and products that explain land cover from the local to global scales.  Primary data and products available at the GLCF are free to anyone via FTP. Online datasets may be accessed electronically through the Earth Science Data Interface (ESDI).

Earth Science Information Partners
The Federation of Earth Science Information Partners has a vast collection of data from NASA and other U.S. Government Agency satellite missions. International satellite missions, and from ground based instruments located worldwide. There are currently over 3,500 data sets available to scientists, educators, companies, and the general public. Learn more about these data sets - and place orders - by using the resources listed on this page.
