Industrial Fact Sheet Series for Activities Covered by EPA’s MSGP
The MSGP (PDF) (240 pp, 2.8MB) regulates discharges of stormwater from 29 different industrial sectors (PDF) (7 pp, 255KB). The sectors group similar facilities by the nature of industrial activity, type of materials handled, and material management practices employed. The sectors are based on the definition of "stormwater discharge associated with industrial activity" found at 40 CFR 122.26 (b)(14)(i)-(ix), (xi). Most sectors are based on a facility’s Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code.

The fact sheets below provide a brief summary of the NPDES industrial stormwater permitting program, the types of facilities included in that sector, a summary of typical pollutants associated with each sector, and types of stormwater control measures used to minimize the discharge of those pollutants.
