Research Project: EXTENSION OF GPFARM-IRRIGATION TO THE COLORADO CORN GROWERS ASSOCIATION / FARM PROFIT

Location: Agricultural Systems Research Unit

Project Number: 5402-61660-006-05
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 01, 2006
End Date: Jun 30, 2011

Objective:
The Colorado Corn Growers would like to find a decision support tool that could be used by field scouts and agricultural producers to help make irrigation and input decisions for the production of corn and other crops grown primarily under irrigation. The Corn Growers believe they can learn the operation and management of GPFARM to an extent that they can provide distribution and support. In addition, the Corn Growers will be collecting information on changes and improvements to complement the existing GPFARM interface.

Approach:
An ASRU scientist and technician will assist CCGA/FP personnel in learning how to use and maintain GPFARM including how to calibrate and validate the model and adjust plant growth parameters. CCGA/FP personnel would distribute GPFARM, provide technical support and training to their users, and generate recommendations for changes to user interface.
