Monthly Energy Review (10/22/2008)
EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; and data unit conversions. See What's New in the Monthly Energy Review for a record of changes. Preliminary statistics comparing the first three quarters of 2008 versus the first three quarters of 2007 show that U.S. crude oil production was down 2 percent; U.S. petroleum imports were down 5 percent; and U.S. petroleum products supplied, which is a measure of consumption, was down 5 percent.

Release of the 2005 RECS Consumption & Expenditures Summary Statistics Data Tables (10/22/2008)
The 2005 RECS Consumption & Expenditures Summary Statistics data tables are now available. These 15 tables include tabulations for total energy consumption and expenditures, average consumption and expenditures, energy intensities, and unit prices. Each table contains statistics according to various household characteristics. The tables may be accessed at: http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/recs/recs2005/hc2005_tables/c&e/detailed_tables2005c&e.html Direct specific questions to: Marilyn.Worthy@eia.doe.gov or James.Berry@eia.doe.gov. Detailed consumption and expenditures tables for space heating, air conditioning, water heating, and home appliances and lighting will be available late October and early November. A public 2005 RECS micro-dataset and documentation will also be made available for users seeking more detailed analyses. Coal Data for the International Energy Annual 2006 (10/20/2008)
Excel spreadsheets with time series data for the years 1980-2006 on: (1) coal consumption and total primary coal production in both million short tons and British thermal units (Btu); (2) anthracite, bituminous, and lignite coal production in thousand short tons; (3) carbon dioxide emissions from the consumption of coal measured in million metric tons of carbon dioxide; and (4) gross heat content of coal production. Also included are Excel spreadsheets with detailed data for primary and secondary coal production in thousand short tons for the year 2005, coal supply and disposition (including imports and exports) in trillion Btu for 2005, and updated estimates of recoverable coal. Important Notes: (1) The Energy Information Administration reviews its databases each year and important revisions are made to the time series data of individual countries during this review. Therefore, data in the International Energy Annual 2006 may have been substantially revised relative to previous editions. (2) In this edition, the name of East Timor has been changed to Timor-Leste (East Timor). (3) Coal data for more recent periods for most countries are available in the Coal section of our International Page.)

Advance Summary U.S. Crude Oil, Natural Gas, and Natural Gas Liquids Reserves 2007 Annual Report (10/16/2008) (PDF - 0 meg)
This is an advance summary of EIA's report on domestic proved reserves of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. It presents key data tables (sorted by fuel and by geographic location) and some highlights of petroleum industry activity that impacted oil and natural gas production and proved reserves in 2007. The full report (to be published in December 2008) will contain more comprehensive data.

IEA Quarterly Coal Questionnaire (QCQ) - 2nd Quarter 2008 (10/15/2008)
Provides detailed quarterly information about U.S. coal production by rank of coal for the 2nd Quarter 2008. This information is submitted each quarter to the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, France. All data are estimates and/or preliminary until released in the EIA "Annual Coal Report" for the corresponding year.

Commercial Buildings Newly Release of the 2003 End-Use Consumption Data Tables (10/14/2008)
End-use consumption data tables for the 2003 Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) are now available. The tables (in PDF, Excel, and HTML formats) show major end-use consumption for electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, district heat, and major fuels for all commercial buildings and non-mall commercial buildings. End-use consumption is the disaggregation of total consumption into consumption specifically for uses such as heating, cooling, lighting, water heating, and office equipment. Direct specific questions to: Joelle Michaels@eia.doe.gov or Alan Swenson@eia.doe.gov.
